Facebook bags messaging giant WhatsApp for a whopping stake of 19 billion dollars, in cash and stock, the deal was locked on with a clause, with a termination fee attached to the deal, which means if the deal does not passes regulatory muster, then Facebook will have to pay $1 billion in cash and $1 billion in shares.

Facebook bags messaging giant WhatsApp for a whopping stake of 19 billion dollars, in cash and stock, the deal was locked on with a clause, with a termination fee attached to the deal, which means if the deal does not passes regulatory muster, then Facebook will have to pay $1 billion in cash and $1 billion in shares.
The news was already running around, Facebook was in talks
with WhatsApp, to accusation, and the details popped out when Facebook posted
on its blog, giving the details as why it is behind the acquisition of the
Messaging giant. However it was also announced by FB that Whatsapp will continue
to behind the acquisition, along with this deal CEO and co-founder of WhatsApp.
Jan Koum will be taking a seat on Facebook’s board.
WhatsApp has been growing huge with 1 million
users everyday joining and it is on the way to reach 1 billion users in few
months after Facebook the only one to reach @1 Billion users on a single social
networking platform. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO commented “WhatsApp
is on a course to bond 1 billion people. The services that reach that landmark
are all incredibly valuable.” He also followed stating, “WhatsApp had every choice
in the world so I’m excited that they choose to work along with us. I’m looking
ahead to what Facebook and WhatsApp can do together, and to developing great
new mobile services that give people even more choices for connecting.
Zuckerberg continued, “I’ve also known Jan for a long time,
and I know that we both share the vision of making the world more open and
connected. I’m particularly happy that Jan has agreed to join the Facebook
board and partner with me to shape Facebook’s future as well as WhatsApp’s.
FB & WhatsApp together, that’s something see and definitely
it’s a big threat to other companies, two of the biggest social networking
giants joining hands is the answer to the future.
