5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Attacks Guatemala Kills 3

  • Disastrous earthquake hits Guatemala on Monday and the results showed it was a 5.8-magnitude earthquake which hit the Central American country close to the city of Cuilapa somewhere around 50 kilometers south of the capital on the main road toward El Salvador.

    Officials reported that three people were dead in the devastating quake. The Geological Survey from United States reported that the main quake hit at 12:34 local time at a depth of 39 kilometers, to be followed by a 4.8-magnitude quake 30 minutes earlier, while a third smaller vibration was registered later.
    This havoc left several number of mudslides in the highlands where mountain slopes saturated after weeks of rain from hurricane activity gave in to the tremor. The Pan American highway that connects Guatemala with the rest of Central America was blocked by landslides on several points toward El Salvador. And several people were injured and lot of property damages hundred’s of buildings getting damaged.

    There are rescue and official teams on a search and taking measures to keep an eye around and finding the missing people and helping them who have been affected by the quake.
